PRIVACYWEAR.com sponsored the DRIFTERS!

We are blessed to have had Carolyn Jones, CEO of PrivacyWear as our primary sponsor of the Drifters Concert!  Her generous sponsorship allowed us to pass the majority of our proceeds on to the Breast Cancer Foundation.

The impact that breast cancer has had on our communities demands more than our mere attention.  PrivacyWear, an international corporation founded in California has moved beyond lip service.  PrivacyWear plays an active role in financing breast cancer research by donating a percentage of the sales from their apparel revenue.  Statistics show that every 12 minutes a woman in America will die from complications associated with breast cancer. With over fifteen hundred new cases of men being diagnosed with breast cancer this year, PrivacyWear Founder and CEO Carolyn Jones is actively educating communities and helping physicians and survivors find a cure. We have been blessed to have their presence at and support of this event.

SHOUT! Co-Founder, Joyce Lee is not only is an absolutely positive and talented spirit - she also is a breast cancer survivor who counsels other survivors in and around the Los Banos Community.  Ms. Lee has led an impressive life as a great grandmother, entertainer, educator and community activist.  This concert is in honor of her and countless other breast cancer survivors.  It is our mission and our prayer that this event will educate, uplift and improve the health of our community!

Our 50’s Day with the Drifters began at 11am on Saturday, September 29th on the Los Banos High School Campus (in the Quad).  The daytime activities included a 50’s style attire contest, trivia contests and an oldies dance marathon deejayed and broadcast live by Dave Luna of oldies station 97.5 KABX.

In addition to the radio broadcast, HARLEY DAVIDSON agreed to donate some awesome motorcycles to help us get into the fifties spirit! HOT DOG HEAVEN was on hand to offer up classic 1950's diner-style fare and Los Banos MAYOR TOMMY JONES enjoyed the evening concert where he issued a proclamation declaring the day "Drifters Day" and recognized PrivacyWear for its invaluable contribution to our city's awareness of breast cancer.  Mayor Jones also honored several breast cancer surviviors.  The Breast Cancer Foundation was present to answer questions and rejoice in our increased knowledge.

The Drifters, the 1950’s group that helped to popularize that All-American “doo wop” sound, are coming to Los Banos to help raise funds for breast cancer research and promote high school & community arts!  These Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees seamlessly linked fifties rhythm & blues with sixties soul music without missing a beat.  Originally formed in 1953, they are one of the longest performing groups in American history.  Kelvin Boyd who sang with the last surviving original Drifter, Bill Pinkney, heads this current group that will be performing.
