Several SHOUT! Youth members have been writing some wonderful spoken word pieces that we plan to perform in the Winter Season!  Here is a preview:

Be - A poem in four parts

I.

Be Kind
Be Creative
Be Smart
Be Colorful
Be Energetic
Be Joyful
Be Stylish
Be Yourself 

II.

People come in different colors. 

Black, white and tan.
They have knowledge. 

But deep down 

in their hearts. 

One thing
is true. 

We're very special.

III.

People teach us different things. 

What they do can
change our lives.

Though we are young, but 

we have a big part in this world. 

Because we
are the new generation. 

IV.

Some people look. 

Some people stare. 

They think what
they see is what you are. 

But, you know that people 

can see the looks
and not the smarts. 

But deep down 

what they don't know is 

who 

you really are.

Are you sure that you really see me?  Why can't you like my books?  Are you sure it's all about looks?  Or are you sure that you're stopping me?  Stopping me from being my own girl.  Or are you sure that you're stopping me from being my own girl?
